Yesterday, 14 January 2014, Dr Vincent Biruta received Professors James G. Losi and Ryon Lamberton together with some students from St Mary’s College of California at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education.
In his welcoming remarks, the Minister of Education thanked the whole group for their willingness to learn about Rwanda and share their experience particularly in education .
Both Professor James G.Losi and Professor Ryan Lamberton teach at St Mary’s College of California . Each January , for the past four years, they bring students from that College to Rwanda and stay for a whole month .The purpose of their visit to Rwanda is to study the culture, learn about international development and work on a variety of service projects. This year they brought a delegation of 13 students.

Discussions with the Minister of Education focused mainly on the quality of education, how to teach history of Rwanda in schools, one University of Rwanda and Technical and Vocational Education and
Training (TVET) .
When asked their perception about Rwanda, one of the students answered :“It is unbelievable to see how Rwanda has rebuilt itself after the 1994 Genocide of Tutsi”. All the students commended the efforts of the leadership to build the country and praised the cleanness seen everywhere they passed.
Founded in 1863, St Mary’s College of California is located in the West Coast of the USA . Their current visit to Rwanda will end on 30 January this year.
