Minister of Education Advocates for Autism-Inclusive Education
Kigali: Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, engaged with the Rwanda Parents’ Initiative on Autism to tackle challenges faced by children with autism in the education system. Key issues discussed included a shortage of specialized teachers, stigma, lack of early diagnosis, inadequate curricula, and insufficient data systems.
Minister Nsengimana emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing teacher training, combating stigma, and developing inclusive policies to ensure equitable education for all learners.
“This is a vital step toward creating a learning environment where every child can thrive,” he stated.
The Ministry plans to collaborate with stakeholders to implement targeted interventions and advance Rwanda’s vision of inclusive education.
