Minister of State Claudette Irere welcomes students from Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls who are in Rwanda on a study tour.

This afternoon, Minister of State Claudette Irere welcomed 19 students from Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos, Nigeria, who are on a study tour in Rwanda.

In her address, Minister Irere went beyond policies and programs—she shared a personal journey shaped by Rwanda’s visionary leadership, strategic decision-making, and deliberate investment in education. With warmth and candor, she highlighted how these efforts have propelled national progress and influenced her own success.

She emphasized the transformative impact of embracing ICT in education and prioritizing STEM subjects, particularly for young women. Encouraging the students to dream big, she underscored the power of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in shaping the future.

"Education is not just about acquiring knowledge," she told them. "It’s about equipping yourselves with the right tools to change the world. And for girls, it’s about breaking barriers and redefining possibilities."

Her message was a call to action—inspiring the visiting students to embrace STEM and become change-makers in their communities.
