African School of Governance Launched in Kigali to Shape the Continent’s Future Leaders
The African School of Governance (ASG) was launched in Kigali in an event that brought together esteemed policymakers, scholars, and thought leaders from Africa and beyond to celebrate the establishment of this groundbreaking institution.
In his keynote address, Rwanda’s Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, reaffirmed the nation's dedication to ethical governance and visionary leadership.
“Rwanda’s transformation is a testament to the power of good governance, accountability, and innovation. Hosting the African School of Governance aligns with our values of unity, progress, and sustainable development. ASG is more than an institution—it is a commitment to equipping leaders with the vision, integrity, and courage to shape Africa’s future.”
ASG co-founder Hailemariam Dessalegn, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, emphasized the school’s mission to cultivate leadership rooted in Africa’s unique historical and socio-economic context.
“Africa’s resurgence begins with leaders who understand our history, political economy, and the power of an empowered mindset. With this foundation, they can drive the continent toward sustainable progress.”
The African School of Governance is designed to tackle some of Africa’s most pressing challenges, including economic inequality, climate change, and social justice. By integrating academic excellence with hands-on leadership training, ASG aims to instill critical thinking, collaboration, and ethical governance in its students.
Rwanda has pledged unwavering support for ASG’s mission. Closing the event, Minister Nsengimana expressed confidence in the institution’s role as a catalyst for leadership excellence.
“Together, we will cultivate leaders who will steer Africa toward prosperity, peace, and global influence.”
The launch of ASG marks the dawn of a new era in leadership development, reinforcing Africa’s commitment to empowering the next generation of transformative leaders.
