It brought together key stakeholders, including senior government officials policymakers, industry leaders, teachers’ associations, and development partners, marking the beginning of important conversations on designing initiatives that will support the development of our Rwanda’s human capital.
Key topics discussed included: Insights from global labor market trends and skills development
Alignment of Rwanda’s education system with evolving market demands
Public-private partnerships as drivers of transformation in education
Minister Joseph Nsengimana emphasized:
“Rwanda’s Vision 2050, with the goal of becoming a high-income, knowledge-based economy, requires urgent alignment of our education system with both local and global market needs. The launch of the Education Accelerator Project is a call to action. It is a shared mission to assess global trends, critically review our education system, and co-create solutions through dynamic public-private partnerships.
” As emerging technologies such as AI rapidly reshape how we acquire, assess, and apply knowledge, we face the challenge of redefining success in education and preparing talent for the future labor market. These advancements call for a reimagined approach to education that involves collaboration across policymakers, academia, learners, and employers.
Rwanda’s commitment to this transformation is anchored in its long-term Vision 2050, the National Strategy for Transformation (NST2), and the Education Strategic Plan (2024-2029). These frameworks highlight high-quality education and robust human capital development as key pillars for the nation's future growth and competitiveness.
