Groundbreaking ceremony of IPRC Tumba Mechatronics Building
IPRC Tumba, 21st January 2022: Hon.Minister of State in charge of ICT & TVET Mrs Claudette IRERE, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony to launch construction works of the mechatronics building at IPRC Tumba, she was accompanied by French Development Agency Country Director, Arthur GERMOND who was representing the Ambassador of France to Rwanda Rwanda H.E Antoine ANFRE
The ceremony was also attended by Col.Patrick Nyirishema DG, Defense R & D, the Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnics Dr. James GASHUMBA, the Mayor of Rulindo District Mrs MUKANYIRIGIRA Judith, security organs and other dignitaries.
Hon.Minister highlighted that Mechatronics Department will automatically increase mechatronics technicians for the labor market, especially modern and automated industries that are arising in Rwanda.
The Mechatronics department is made of 7 workshops covering all aspects of the discipline: mechanical, automation, pneumatics and hydraulics, manufacturing, industrial and domestic electrical, electronics, computing. The building also entails 12 classrooms, a new language laboratory to be equipped with specialised language learning application, and a library. The building will be fully accessible for Persons with disabilities and is environmentally friendly both in construction and exploitation phases.
The AFTER Project was established through the Grant Financing Agreement signed between the Government of Rwanda & French Agency for Development (AFD).The visit to IPRC Tumba of French President Emmanuel Macron in May 2021 highlighted the commitment of France to support the youth of Rwanda through the modernization of the vocational training offer and create the skills needed for the economic future of the country.
