HANDOVER CEREMONY BETWEEN OUTGOING DG /WDA AND HEADS OF SOME OF MINEDUC AGENCIES
Kigali, 30th December 2020:
The Minister of Education Dr. Valentine UWAMARIYA presided over a handover ceremony between the outgoing Director General of Former Workforce Development Authority (WDA) Eng. Pascal GATABAZI and the heads of MINEDUC Agencies which will take over all WDA duties after its dissolution.
Eng. Pascal GATABAZI handed over first to Eng. Paul UMUKUNZI the newly appointed Director General (DG) of Rwanda Technical Vocational Education and Training Board (RTB), and he secondly handed over some of former WDA mandates to the Director General of Higher Education Council (HEC), Dr. Rose MUKANKOMEJE respectively.
Finally, Eng. Pascal GATABAZI handed over to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Samuel MULINDWA, all WDA duties which are supposed to be handled by the National Examinations and School Inspection Authority (NESA) which is expected to be officially operational in the near future.
This exercise was also an occasion for Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) Vice Chancellor Dr. James GASHUMBA to hand over partial duties of Rwanda Polytechnics (RP) to the DG of RTB.
In her remarks, the Minister of Education thanked the outgoing WDA Director General Eng. Pascal GATABAZI for the service rendered during his stay in the TVET sector and congratulated Eng. Paul UMUKUNZI, for his appointment as Rwanda TVET Board Director General, and urged him to work tirelessly and bring more innovations into TVET Sector.
The handover comes following a Cabinet meeting held on 14th December 2020 which appointed Eng. Paul UMUKUNZI as the Director General of RTB and Dr Rose MUKANKOMEJE as the Director General of Higher Education council who has been heading the same institution since November 2019 as Executive Director.
Prior to his appointment as RTB Director General, Eng Paul UMUKUNZI has been serving as Deputy Principal Academics and Training at the Integrated Polytechnic Regional College of Karongi (IPRC-KARONGI).
