MINISTER JOSEPH NSENGIMANA TAKES UP OFFICE

 Kigali, 16 September 2024: The Ministry of Education held a handover ceremony between the outgoing Minister of Education, Gaspard Twagirayezu, and the incoming Minister of Education, Honourable Joseph Nsengimana. The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Claudette Irere, and other senior management members of the Ministry of Education were present to welcome the new Minister and bid farewell to the outgoing one.


In his remarks, Hon. Joseph Nsengimana extended his gratitude to Gaspard Twagirayezu for his pivotal role during his tenure at the Ministry since August 2023 when he was appointed Minister of Education and February 2020 when he was appointed Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education. He took the opportunity to congratulate him on his new appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Space Agency.


The new Minister of Education promised to build on the existing foundation set by his predecessors and also promised to promote a teamwork spirit and the implementation of various innovations to enhance the quality of education within the Ministry.


In his turn, Gaspard Twagirayezu expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for their collaboration and the sense of family spirit since he took office. He affirmed that he would always be available to provide assistance in matters related to the education sector to any former colleague who may need it.


Hon. Joseph Nsengimana joins the Ministry with a very important experience in the education field, as he was the Director for the Mastercard Foundation’s African Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning in ICT12. The Centre aims to spark innovation and promote promising practices in the use of ICT for teaching and learning and catalyze significant improvements in secondary education across Africa1.
