Minister Nsengimana Champions TVET as Catalyst for Rwanda’s Economic Transformation at Global Skills Connect 2025
Minister Nsengimana delivered a keynote address at the Global Skills Connect conference 2025, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, an integral part of the Rwanda Future Skills Forum which is taking place in Kigali-Rwanda.
In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the vital connection between Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the evolving demands of Rwanda’s economy:
“We live in an era of rapid change—AI, digitalization, and automation are redefining the workplace. Adapting to this new reality is urgent, and no country should be left behind. In Rwanda, we have placed TVET at the center of our development agenda. Through models such as dual training and workplace learning, we are strengthening links with industry to ensure relevance and impact. We are also investing in TVET Centers of Excellence—modern institutions equipped with cutting-edge technology and tailored to meet the evolving needs of our economy.”
Global Skills Connect conference 2025 focuses on practical solutions to close skills gaps in key sectors like construction, agriculture, ICT, manufacturing, and hospitality.
The forum also reflects Rwanda’s push to make technical and vocational education central to economic growth, job creation, and youth empowerment.
This conference brings together leaders in education, government, and industry to strengthen collaboration between training institutions, the private sector, and policymakers so that education systems can better match labour market needs.
Alongside this conference, there is a vibrant TVET Expo, with 158 exhibitors from training institutions and the private sector, the Expo is a showcase of innovation, talent, and evolving labour market trends.
