Hon. Dr Uwamariya at AUC Graudation Masoro Campus

“Dear graduates, as you leave the security and familiarity of your school environment for the unpredictable world out there, may you become job creators rather than job seekers and may you not sacrifice principles AUCA taught you on the altars of prosperity and success. You know that the Society expects a lot from you. Rwanda being a service and knowledge-based economy, you are expected to take center stage towards this transformation. Be creative, be innovative and in your respective areas of specialization, provide solutions to existing problems.”

AUCA graduates at their celebration event

Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) was founded in 1978 and the official opening took place on 15 October 1984. At its inception, the University was located at Mudende, former Mutura Commune, Gisenyi Prefecture. Until 1994, just before the genocide against the Tutsi, the AUCA had 7 faculties and during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, AUCA temporarily suspended its activities. From 7 May 1996, University relocated to Kigali City, and reopened a transition Campus at Gishushu, Rukiri III, Remera Sector, Kacyiru District. From that time, the University operated with only four faculties: Business Administration, Information Technology, Education, and Theology.

The graduates were filled with pleasure due to their academic achievement

In 2019, the Faculty of Health Sciences was introduced, operating on its Nursing campus in Karongi District. Until today, AUCA has enjoyed a good reputation locally and regionally for its track record in quality teaching. Currently the university operates on three campuses notably Masoro, Gishushu (Kigali City) and Ngoma (Karongi District in the Western Province).
