Minister Valentine received US Ambassador to Rwanda for a courtesy call

Thursday 2nd September 2021: The Minister of Education Dr Valentine UWAMARIYA received for a courtesy call His Excellency Peter H. Vrooman the Ambassador of US to Rwanda. The purpose of the courtesy call meeting was to introduce Ms. Deborah MacLean, new Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy to Rwanda and Mr. Jonathan Kamin, the new United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director for Rwanda.

The Minister of Education congratulated Ms. Deborah MacLean and Mr. Jonathan Kamin for the new assignments and acknowledged good relations and cooperation of Rwanda and United States. She pledged the Ministry’s commitment to strengthen existing cooperation in Education sector. The Minister further expressed the Ministry’s readiness to working with the new Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy to Rwanda and the new USAID Mission Director for Rwanda.

Both the Minister of Education and H.E Ambassador of US to Rwanda commended the existing U.S-Rwanda Education Cooperation in strengthening early grade literacy and numeracy in Kinyarwanda and English as a foundation for future learning, innovative teaching and learning in schools, training, and mentoring teachers, and assistance in the development of reading assessment tools for improved teaching and informed policy making..
