"Pre-primary education is the foundation of quality basic education" , Dr Isaac Munyakazi

On 14 May 2019, the Ministry of Education held a meeting with Faith Based Organizations, Development Partners, the Early Childhood Development Program, Vice Mayors in Charge of Social Affairs and different stakeholders to reflect on ways to scale up the development of Pre-primary Education in Rwanda.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of State Dr. Isaac MUNYAKAZI commended all participants for their endeavor.” I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody to honor our invitation; that shows the commitment you all have to promote education in Rwanda more specifically this level where we talk about school readiness.

He added that Pre-primary Education is a foundation of quality  basic education and that the Government of Rwanda has resolved to do everything possible to extend the access to all the children.

The Minister of State said that the Ministry put in place measures such as the elaboration of a competency based curriculum in 2015, trainings of pre-primary teachers, and put in place national pre-primary education minimum standards and guidelines for Rwanda. He added that all these measures are meant to pave the way for school readiness.
