Rwanda Officially Launches Participation in PISA 2025 Main Survey
The Ministry of Education, through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has officially launched Rwanda’s participation in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025 Main Survey.
The national launch event, held this morning at GS Camp Kigali, was presided over by the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana. A parallel launch was simultaneously led by the Minister of State for Education, Claudette Irere, at Nu-Vision High School in Gasabo District.
“Rwanda’s participation in PISA 2025 reaffirms our commitment to strengthening education quality and benchmarking our students’ performance against 91 countries worldwide,” said the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana , at the launch of the assessment. He added, “The results will offer valuable insights into our current standing and inform any necessary adjustments to further enhance our education system.”
The PISA 2025 assessment will run from April 28 to June 7, 2025, involving 7,455 students from 213 schools across the country.
Organised every three years by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), PISA is a globally recognized study that evaluates how well 15-year-old students can apply their knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems, beyond simple memorization. The assessment measures competencies in reading, mathematics, and science, offering countries valuable insights into the effectiveness of their education systems.
