Rwanda will continue to support research and technology

Kigali -  Wednesday, June 13, 2018, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente officially opened the National Research and Innovation Symposium that coincided with the launch of the Fund for National Research and Innovation. In his remarks, the Primier emphasized the importance of the Symposium in promoting policy advice for science and technology research.
“The symposium will advise on how Rwanda, as a country can efficiently build research and innovation capacities taking advantage of academia and industry collaboration”, he noted. The Prime Minister further urged participants to use all their expertise and provide adequate advice on how Rwanda can use Science and Technology to achieve its target of becoming a knowledge-based economy. He reassured them of the commitment of Government of Rwanda to keep supporting research and technology with particular emphasis to link our young innovators with the labour market. He finally requested the National Council for Science and Technology to set in place adequate tools and mechanisms to ensure efficient processes in terms of mobilizing, managing and utilizing the National Research and Innovation Fund in the most productive and efficient manner.
