The Minister of State Claudette Irene Commissions 820 Teaching Assistants.

Today, the Minister of State Claudette Irere  spoke at the commissioning ceremony of Teaching Assistants, emphasizing the transformative power of investing in young people—particularly women—to improve education quality and inclusion.

“Today, we celebrate more than a milestone—we celebrate purpose,” she said. “You have the power to make every classroom not just a place of learning, but a space of inspiration.” The Minister urged all stakeholders to view teaching assistants as a strategic investment and reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to building a brighter future through empowered educators.

The Minister of State commended the Mastercard Foundation and Inspire, Educate and Empower Rwanda (IEE Rwanda) for enabling hundreds of young Rwandans to take on meaningful roles in schools and communities.

Held under the theme “Investing in Tomorrow’s Educators to Build a Brighter Future for Rwanda,” the ceremony saw 820 teaching assistants receive certificates following a six-month journey in schools across the country. The TAP II Project aims to shape the future of education by equipping participants with the skills, values, and leadership qualities needed to inspire the next generation of teachers and community change-makers.
