PRESS RELEASE: MINEDUC TO CONDUCT QUALITY EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN (THE FIFTH PHASE, FROM MAY 27TH TO JUNE 07TH, 2019)

  The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) is determined to improve the quality of Education. While access to education is being achieved challenges still remain unaddressed. The MINEDUC in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and its stakeholders has organized the 5th phase of the Quality Education Enhancement Awareness Campaign scheduled on May 27th to June 7th, 2019, with the theme:" A Regular Present Teacher, With Good Pedagogical Practices is Key to Quality Education". The campaign targets 900 schools in 30 districts.

  The objectives of the Campaign are to advise Head teachers to supervise in-class teaching activities, to advise teachers to be present and punctual on duty, to advise teachers to plan and teach lessons respecting the Competence Based Curriculum Standards and to take measures to prevent issues of absenteeism, class repetition and school dropout. The campaign will involve a combination of school visits, in class inspection and outreach sensitizations, and thereafter feedback will be shared at the debriefing meeting.

  The campaign outcomes include better teaching delivery, improved teaching and learning practices, improved head teacher supervision of in-class teaching activities, improved regular attendance of teachers, improved regular assessments (formative and summative), improved pupils’/student’s attendance and reduced drop out, increased engagement of parents in better pupil’s/students’ learning.

  MINEDUC and its affiliated Agencies, other stakeholders such as Governors and Mayor of Kigali City, Local Government Leaders, District/Sector Education Officers, School Owners, School General Assembly Committees, School Head Teachers, RDF, RNP, National Reserve Force and Key Opinion Leaders will be involved in the campaign.
